DAVID LEONARD WIEDMER
After completing a Swiss diploma (CFC) in Cabinet Making, David enters the Violin Making School of Mirecourt and graduates three years later with the congratulations of the jury.
Fascinated by the character and elegance of the golden period instruments, he poursues his formation alongside the most beautiful specimens at Emmanuel Gradoux Matt in New York and Florian Leonhard in London, where he’s trained in high restoration and fine violin making.
Rich of these experiences, he comes back in France in 2014 and works for Alexandre Snitkowski, before dedicates entirely to his own production of modern and copies. The quality of his work has been rewarded in the most prestigious international competitions.
PRIZES AND AWARDS :
2018 – Gold medal for a violin + Silver medal for a viola + Gold medal for a cello in collaboration with Damien Gest at the VSA (Violin Society of America) competition.
2016 – Silver medal for a violin at the Concorso Internazionale di Liuteria Santa Cecilia di Roma
2016 – Prize for workmanship and prize for sonority in VIOLAS competition in Paris
2015 – Sacconi Medal at the Triennale di Cremona
